Have a 2006 Rav4 with V6 engine. Been using Amsoil's best oil (Signature 5W-30)and EA filters since the car was almost new. Vehicle now has 233,000 miles on it
and does not smoke, burn oil or have any leaks. Still runs as new. Do my own oil/filter changes and do so at approximately every 15,000 miles and/or at least twice a year. The ambient temperatures can easily rise above 90 degrees and the AC is used daily. Do a lot of rural/highway driving and for half the life so far, stop and go city driving.
My other car is a 2000 Miata with almost 200,000 miles. Same scenario as above but I don't put as many miles on the car per year. I change the oil (Amsoil Signature 10W-30)and EA filter yearly. Changing the oil on this car is a pain because of how one must contort to get to the filter while laying on my back under the car. So changing it once a year is a big plus. This engine does leak a bit out of the rear seal before the manual transmission. Can make 2500 mile cross-country trips at highway speed and use maybe a little under 1/2 quart (from the full mark on the dipstick).
As an old school "shade-tree" mechanic I highly recommend these oils and the
EA(Amsoil) filters. The web-site is very helpful too, as are the staff with any verifying questions. I believe I save money both in the short and long run.
